Describing People, Tourist Spot, and Historical Building: Review Sumber Belajar Rumah Belajar


Modul online yang dimuat dalam website Rumah Belajar ini masuk kategori sumber belajar untuk SMA kelas X, sesuai dengan Kompetensi Dasar Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris Kurikulum 2013. Modul bahasa inggris untuk SMA ini disusun dengan struktur Pendahuluan, Kuis, Kegiatan Belajar 1, Kegiatan Belajar 2, Penutup, Referensi, dan Tim. Bagian Pendahuluan menjelaskan deskripsi singkat sumber belajar, petunjuk penggunaan modul untuk guru dan petunjuk untuk siswa. Bagian selanjutnya menyajikan kuis. Kuis ini terletak di bagian awal sumber belajar sebagai tes awal dengan pertanyaan yang menggali pengetahuan awal siswa terkait materi.

Kegiatan belajar diawali dengan tujuan/indikator yang berisi tujuan pembelajaran beserta deskripsinya. Bagian selanjutnya adalah uraian materi. Uraian materi disajikan dengan menguraikan materi terkait ungkapan mendeskripsikan orang, tempat wisata, dan gedung bersejarah terkait tujuan (fungsi sosial) teks, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan. Di bagian ini juga disertai contoh teks dalam bentuk audio. Bagian selanjutnya adalah rangkuman yang (mestinya) berisi tentang pokok-pokok materi yang telah dipelajari dan diakhiri dengan soal latihan sebagai evaluasi. Format yang sama juga digunakan untuk menyajikan kegiatan belajar ke-2. Di kegiatan ke-2, contoh yang digunakan berupa teks dalam bentuk tulisan.

Bagian Penutup modul menyajikan rangkuman akhir dan tugas akhir modul dengan mengerjakan soal secara online. Modul diakhiri dengan referensi dan daftar anggota tim yang terlibat dalam pembuatan.

Terkait penyajiannya, sumber belajar ini dapat dikatakan cukup lengkap. Materi pembelajaran diuraikan secara mendetail dengan disertai contoh. Yang dapat ditingkatkan dari sumber belajar ini adalah cara penyampaian materi. Penyajiannya dapat menggunakan variasi lain, tidak sekedar memaparkan materi, sehingga siswa tidak sekedar menerima secara pasif, tetapi mengkonstruksikan pengetahuannya secara mandiri. Hal ini merupakan amanah pendekatan saintifik dari kurikulum 2013, yaitu agar pembelajaran lebih berpusat pada peserta didik dan melatih siswa menggunakan keterampilan berpikir aras tinggi.

Example 1:
Receptionist    : May I help you, Sir?
Recky             : Yes, please. I’m Recky Raharja from NAOVI Advertising. I’d like to see Mr.   Sinclair from the Marketing Department.
Receptionist    : I’m sorry. Mr. Sinclair is in a meeting now.  It will finish an hour from now. Would you like to wait? Or can I take a message?
Recky             : I’ll just wait.
Receptionist    : Have a seat, then.
Recky             : Thank you.

Dika                : Yes, please. I’m Dika  from INUK Catering. I’d like to see Mr. John, please.
Receptionist    : I’m sorry. Mr. John is not available today. Can I take a message?
Dika               : Sure.  Please tell him that I want to see him about the catering order for the company meeting next month.
Receptionist    : Ok. Mr. Dika from INUK Catering…wants to meet..about the catering order… for the company meeting.
Dika                : Yes.
Receptionist    :I’ll make sure that he gets the message. Is there anything else?

DOKI                      : Yes, do you have this shirt in a bigger size?

SHOP ASSISTANT     : OK, let me check in the back...

DOKI                      : Thanks. Where are your fitting rooms?
